We focus on helping people achieve and maintain healthy body weight and body mass composition with our food and nutrition plans at TriForce CrossFit. This helps propel people to perform their best during our CrossFit programs. As practitioners of CrossFit and competitive weightlifting both Megan and Chris can attest to the power of eating right for energy, performance, and the way you feel and look.
We emphasize eating vegetables, fruits, whole grains, healthy fats and healthy proteins. We also recommend drinking water instead of drinks with any type of sugar. As a Registered and licensed dietitian, Megan enjoys empowering you to use healthy eating as an opportunity to fuel your body and energize your workout. By examining real and perceived barriers to food, we can break the cycle of fad dieting together and transition to building a new, healthier lifestyle.
A healthy diet will also help shorten recovery times after both workouts and physical therapy, making sure your body is getting stronger, faster.
As part of the CrossFit FOUNDATIONS course, you will have baseline measurements for your weight, body fat % and lean mass %. As a part of your free 15-minute initial consultation, we will take your “before” picture for you and share it with you so you can track your results visually as well. During those first 3 weeks, we will cover 9 keys to establishing healthy eating habits.
Monthly Group Nutrition Session
1x monthly we host a group nutrition session. These are so much fun and allow us to share the best evidence-based nutrition information available. We also use this time to address the basics of common dietary concerns such as salt, vitamins and supplements, alcohol, barriers to change and macronutrients.
We talk a lot about how to eat and leave what to eat more up to you and your cultural and personal preferences. We enjoy incorporating recipes into our TriForce Community emails and sharing cooking tips in and out of class as well. For anyone desiring more specific dietary guidance, we offer one-on-one coaching in this area as well.
One-on-One Nutrition Coaching (COMING SOON)
Approaching food mindfully is powerful. That’s why we stress getting down the basics of healthy eating. Our one-on-one sessions with a dietician can be utilized as frequently as desired and typically include a one-hour initial meeting, followed by 30 minute follow up sessions based off goals and progress.
Reasons to consider one-on-one nutrition coaching include:
- Extra accountability- With coaching comes extra motivation. We all struggle with motivation at times. Sometimes, knowing that you are investing in yourself by doing coaching and have someone to keep you accountable can give you the extra push to do what you want to do for yourself.
- Extra technical work- Performance nutrition helps you dial in on doing your best and feeling your best before, during and after workouts. There is a lot of information out there on nutrition, and it varies widely in quality. It can also be overwhelming and misleading. If you have a competition or goal you want to achieve, then sitting down and getting specific with what you are taking in for fuel is an important step! It can help you clean up problem areas so you can perform at your highest level.
- Extra specialization- Some members require more specific diet plans. If the healthy habits designed for the gym as a whole do not match the requirements, whether health or personal related, it may be best to allow our dietitian to work with your needs to come up with a diet plan that is specifically created for you.
